Where Has The Soul Train Awards Been??

So was anyone else as confused as I was about the Soul Train Awards on BET? I was watching tv last week when I saw a commercial with Taraji P. Henson and Terrance Howard for an upcoming Soul Train Award Show. Needless to say I was stuck on stupid wondering what the heck happened to that award show and how it ended up on BET. So lastnight I tuned in to the red carpet hour @ 8 and they had a pretty good line up. Everyone from Toni Braxton to Mario and Brian McKnight were scheduled to perform. The show was also honoring Chaka Khan, Charlie Wilson and Michael Jackson. I have to admit that I had the eyebrow up about the sudden rebirth of the show, but I was pleasantly surprised. I thought It was well put together. The show was a very adult, drama free show. Ms. Keri Hilson and Trey Songz gave two of my favorite performances of the night. The show brought out a wide variety of great talents(both old and new) and Taraji and Terrence hosted well together.
Some people thought the show was boring, but just because we didn't have Kanye and Lil Mama on the sideline ready to act a fool doesn't mean that it wasn't a good show. LOL. I think anytime people can get together, be tasteful and peaceful plus put on a good performance, then that makes for a good show.

Turkey Day was a hit!

So Thanksgiving was a blast! My mom and I began cooking on Wednesday night and we made everything from honey glazed pineapple ham to baked zit and baked macaroni (which turned out great by the way). The food was absolutely delishhh and I woke up this morning and had a large plate of left overs! I plan on eating Thanksgiving dinner for the next several days and I am not ashamed!
BTW did anyone see The Beyonce Experience on ABC last night? I was too busy stuffing my face so I missed it...

Is it me or does that movie "Brothers" (with Jake Gyllenhall and Toby McGuire) look super goooood?!! Man goes off to war and is presumed dead, he fights his way back to his wife and kids just to discover that his wife slept with his brother (gasp!!) PRICELESS! I cannot wait to see it. It's in theaters on Dec. 4th...

Mac N Cheese Please!

So I plan on baking a macaroni pie this Turkey Day but this is my 1st time. Most people I know have been here and done this, so I'll tell you guys what ingredients I picked up and you can feel free to add anything that you deem necessary. I picked up elbow pasta (of course), sharp cheddar and mozerella cheese and carnation milk. I've also heard that I could add eggs and chopped onions, so I'll incorporate those things. I suppose it sounds simple enough and I'm a great cook so I'm sure it'll be tasty. Baked macaroni is one of my favortie foods so I figured I should try making it for a change. As I said, feel free to let me know how to jazz it up!

How about those AMAs?!

How about those AMAs? I have to say I was fully entertained! Let me just get this out of the way. The best performance for me was Jay Z and Keys. I get chills everytime they perform Empire State live. And don't even get me started on Jay's swaggerific white suite and bow tie. My second favorite performance came from Alicia Keys. I can't stress how much I love her new single Try Sleeping Wtih A Broken Heart. That song is the truth!... Now that I got that out of the way let's talk about J. Lo's slip and fall! She recovered from that fall so fast that if u blinked you would've missed it. I know I almost did. LOL. And then the American Idol winner busted his butt too? That was more than I could take. I enjoyed Rih Rih's performance. I love both of the songs that she performed. I'm thrilled to see her moving onward and upward with her life and her career! More power to her sassy butt. I wasn't entirely blown away by Whitney's performance. She sang her song with the amount of grace that only Whitney could, but it was a little less than moving. I'm just happy that she's back and doing well! I think the show was nicely put together over all. Kanye and Lil Mama were noticeably absent and thank heavens because the last thing the show needed was their shinanigans!

It's Been A Long Time!

I know I know, It's been forever since I've blogged with you guys! Soo much has happened since Feb. 2009 and I've been incredibly busy to say the least. Hmmm, Where do I start? Well, I got engaged over the summer, that was the highlight of my summer, as well as my LIFE!! I've been busy planning my upcoming nuptials to my lover and best friend, and I'll gladly take you guys on the world wind ride with me. My life consists of all things wedding related at the current moment. Either I'm reading my Modern Bride Magazine or I'm watching "WE Go Bridal" Sundays on the We Channel. David Tutera and Platinum Weddings are my fave... In other news, I decided to go back to school to further my career and of course my education. I'm currently in Grad School getting my masters in social work. I'm headed towards being a licensed clinician and I have to say, my momentum is great! Hmmm, did I leave anything out? Oh, I'm on a serious hunt for a new apartment. My fiance and I are moving on ward and up ward and it's time for a new pad that represents the both of us! Our search has been crrrazy, but I'm confident that It'll come to a nice end.
Well, that's all for now! I'm going to make an earnest effort to keep up with my fellow bloggers and bring my own little "Neesh" twist to all of the current events going on!!
Ciao for now!

P.S. WHAT THE HECK is Oprah doing retiring in 2011?? I completely respect and understand her wanting to go out on top and end the show with a nice round # like 25 but Geeze Louise how am I supposed to live a life without Oprah in it on a daily basis??????
