What's With These Dudes??

So every now and then I tune into that BET show called Brothers to Brutha. For those who may not know, it's a reality show about the lives of 5 brothers that are in the midst of getting a record deal and recording an album. Now is it me, or do these guys end up getting drunk and kickin' each other's asses in every episode? It seems like every time I watch this show, the boys start off tryna have fun, then the alcohol gets thrown in the mix, and then cut to one of the brother's tryna rip Anthony (the youngest brother) to shreds! It's very entertaining, but it's also sad, because they haven't even really tasted stardom yet, and they're about to blow their potential careers to smitherines! They're single I Can't Feel The Music features Fabolous, and it premiered on 106 and park, so I guess they've earned a little recognition amongst the teeny boppers at least. With that being said, if these guys don't get a grip on reality they're gonna end just another one hit wonder, and seriously, who needs another one of those?

What Recession??

So last weekend my boyfriend and I went to Roosevelt Field Shopping Mall (in Long Island) to do some last minute shopping. It was early in the evening, around 5pm, and I figured the mall wouldn't be that packed, boy oh boy was I wrong. The 1st sign of trouble was the fact that there was a ridiculous amount of traffic at the exit for the mall. The line of cars stretched damn near back to the previous exit. Then when we finally navigated our way to the other side of the of the mall, we found it fricken impossible to find parking. We waited for someone who was leaving the mall so that we could take their parking spot. I can't even get into how packed the mall was inside, I had to end my shopping early because those kinda crowds agitate me severely. Now I'm not surprised that it was that crazy because after all, its the holiday season and all, but damn I thought we were in some kind of RECESSION. I dunno what the news is talkin' about, because people were out there shopping like no tomorrow, shiit! And when I tuned into 105.1 Ed Lover was complaining that it took him forever to get out of Rosy's (Roosevelt Field) valet parking lot. This so called recession isn't stopping anybody from spending their cash.

Quote of the week:

"Nobody likes 10lb sugar in a 5lb bag".
-Carson, Queer Eye... and How To Look Good Naked

Carson made this statement on the Tyra show and I found it hilarious because this was his way of describing a person wearing clothes that are too small. Leave it to a gay person to be able to come up with an analogy like that, LOL.

President Bush Ducks Flying Shoes!

When I saw this on the news last night I laughed until my stomach hurt! The only thing that woulda been better is if those shoes woulda actually hit him!!! LMAO!

Next Stop : Brooklyn Baby!

For those of us who've been pheenin' for a drama filled, sexy, intense season of MTV's The Real World, we just may be gettin' what we've wished for. Ever since The Real World Las Vegas there really hasn't been any seasons that were worth gettin' committed to. The cheesy yet very sweet love story of Irulan and Alton kept me tuning in every week. Then there was the typical "angry black woman" Arissa with her own set of issues, and how can we forget Brynn, the literal hoe turned housewife who went around makin' out with everything movin'. I miss the drama of the Seattle season when the chick with limes disease got the spit smacked outta her after callin her room mate gay. And what about the Back to New York season with the Bi*** we all love to hate; Coral! These kinds of characters are what reality tv dramas are made of. Hopefully with MTV's 21st season taking place in good ole Brooklyn, we can all get the fix that we so desperately need, lol. The new season is scheduled to air on MTV on January 7th 2009.

What's With This New Nerdy Look?

So the latest fashion wave to hit the streets is that Nerdy/Geeky look, equipped with big thick glasses and all. Everyone from Jay-z and pharell to my girl Rhi-Rhi is rockin' this look, but I must say I'm just not feelin' it. It's one thing for a chosen few to be wearing these dorky glasses, but nowadays every time I open up a magazine there's another celeb lookin' completely out of their element with these glasses on. But that's not even the worst part about it, the worst part is that people in the general public see these celebs wearin' something and then they jump all over it as if fashion is made to be one size fits all. What happened to those day when fashion was an expression of one's individual self. It's great to keep up to the times (in the words of Vibez Kartel) and all, but just because something is in style @ the moment certainly does not mean that it's meant for any and everyone. This is taking me back to a couple years ago when Cameron busted out with all those pink and yellow coats and shirts. Suddenly it became cool to rock those colors. You would be in the club and find the toughest most thug dude with a pink polo on! I find it hilarious. Like I said its good to keep your fashion game up to par, but people gotta learn to stick to their own script, Geeesh. Holla if you hear me people.

Why is Jay here lookin' like somebody's grandfather??
Photobucket

I got this one courtesy of mediatakeout.com. They apparently like this look on her, but I do not! Rhi Rhi usually looks fab, but I can't get with this look.

This look isn't too bad on Pharell, but these specs don't really do anything for him.

Quote Of The Week:

"An Ugly Truth is better than a Pretty Lie"
-Nadine, General Hospital

Yes, General Hospital as in the day time soap opera. I'm guilty and I don't feel one bit bad about it. I watch all the soaps on channel 7 and I love it! Now that we got that out of the way, I love this line because it's very simply stated, but it's also very powerful. A lot of times the truth is indeed ugly, and there by less desirable than those pretty lies, Plus the truth tends to feel a little overrated at times. With that being said the truth telling is the preferred method because it gives people the choice to decided what they wanna do with that truth.

Obama Calls for Chicago Govenor's Resignation

President elect Barack Obama has reportedly asked Chicago Governor Rob Blagojevich to give in his resignation. Blagojevich, out on bond denies that he was involved in the "Pay to Play" scheme, and he has no plans to step down at this time (he got the nerve). Reverend Jesse Jackson's son, Jesse Jackson, Jr is said to be the person of interest that was in negotiations with the governor to purchase Obama's seat in the senate. He also denies that he had any dealings or knowledge of the situation. Um um um. Now these men know that they done got caught with their hands in the cookie jar! Selling and buying seats in the senate, and then they wonder why people don't have any faith in our government. The word CORRUPT certainly comes to mind. It's a crying shame!

I Hate The Bad Girls Club!

Why on earth is this season of The Bad Girls Club sooo wack?! These girls are fricken ridiculous. Those damn "Amber" girls are the dumbest things since the 'Olly" twins from Sunset Tan, and at least those girls were cute, so you tend to forgive their stupidity. And don't even get me started on ya girl Kayla, form Compton. She's so extra for no good reason. She claims that she has split personalities, I think she needs to scoop all of em up and go back to Cali. As far as the other girls in the house go, I can't even remember their darn names! Last season we had Tanisha and her antics telling everyone to "Pop off" every night, and wildin' out with that phony Jamaican accent, and when Tanisha wasn't buggin' out we were amused by Cordelia's alcoholic butt. Good times, good times! This season simply does not measure up. I can't bare to watch this show, and truthfully the most upsetting part of it all is that after being spoiled by The Real Housewives... now my Tuesday nights seem so damn blahh and glibb (Tom Cruise word, LOL). What's a girl to do?

These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things!

So it's that time of year again when gifts are given and received , so in typical Oprah fashion I decided to share a few of my favorite things with you guys! Now the bad news is I won't be giving em to you for free like my idol Oprah does, LOL. However, the good news is that you can give nice gifts to others this season, and you can treat yourself to some cool stuff too! Yay!!

So the first thing on my list is: My MAC Lustreglass. The color that I wear most is called Beaux and I absolutely love it. It's nice and natural, plus it's an appropriate shade for your everyday life. I can also be biased because of the fact that it goes so well with my complexion, lol. In any case, Lustreglass is an awesome line from MAC, it goes on very smoothly minus that heavy sticky feeling of some of MAC's other products.

Photobucket

My next favorite thing comes from Pier 1 Imports. I'm very big on candles and home fragrances that help keep my bachelorette pad smelling so fresh and so clean! Let me stop, I soo do not have a bachelorette pad, it's more like a honeymoon suite, LMAO. I use Reed Diffusers in my home because the smell is very potent, yet not overpowering. It also fits in with any home decor. My favorite Reed Diffusers are the Butter Cream and Biscotti scents.

Photobucket

The next item on my list is my new favorite perfume. I wasn't always a big fan of perfume because I prefer a light and suttle scent, as oppose to those strong floral ones. I navigated my way through the various Ralph scents (Rocks, Hot) and Ralph Lauren Wild is my everyday scent. It's very light and sweet! I love it!

Photobucket

Next on my list is a food item. Lately I've found myself buying a little bag of Famous Amos chocolate chip cookies everyday. They're a really good snack, and they are hands down the best tasting chocolate chip cookies that I've ever had. Lord knows I could probably do without having a bag everyday, but I'm not usually one to deny myself the simple pleasures in life, so screw it!

Photobucket

Up next on my list is another food item. It's Dale And Thomas Gourmet Popcorn. Those simple days of Orville Redenbacher are longg gone, lol. These gourmet popcorns come in all kinds of tasty and exotic flavors, and they also serve as a nice and inexpensive gift. I suggest everyone try the Country Smokehouse Cheddar flavor. Its YUMMO!

Photobucket

Now that I've moved on from the food, next on my list are my Uggs! I've had various pairs of Uggs, but my Classic Crochet Tall Uggs are by far the most comfy. They feel like big warm socks and they go with everything!

Photobucket

I can go on and on with this list about my favorite things, but I won't subject you guys to a list that long, in the interest of saving time, I will wrap this up with an item that brings laughter and relief to my life when it's most needed. This item is the most inexpensive on the whole list, but its the thing that I use the most... Drum roll pleeeease!!!! The last item is: My Easy Button from Staples!!!!! Every time I feel stressed or plain old annoyed outta my mind by one of my clients at work, I press my Easy button. It gives me a little chuckle and lightens my mood, plus for every one that's purchased, Staples donates a portion to NYC schools for supplies and things of that nature. So not only is the Easy Button cool, but the proceeds go towards a great cause!

Photobucket

I Hope you enjoyed my list! Happy Holidays!

Quote of the week:

"Happily ever after isn't just a fairytale, it's something you have to work at".

-Beyonce

This is a line that my girl Beyonce said in an interview and it resonated with me a lot. I think as far as relationships go, we like to think that once you meet someone who turns out to be exactly what you're looking for, and all the sparks fly, then the rest should be pretty easy and natural from there. However, needless to say it doesn't work like that. Realistically you have to fight for your ideal relationship, and you have to put in constant work. Once you find that person and you both have that mutual love and respect, then yes, the hardest part is done. But the actual footwork is never done, and you're pretty much guaranteed to wanna ring each other's necks and call it quits. I can't even count how many times I've felt like kicking my boyfriend's ass, and believe me, I've dished out my fair share too! But ultimately ya gotta keep your eye on the prize!

The Juice Is Finally Squeezed!!

Today O.J. Simpson was found guilty for his involvment in the Las Vegas memorabilia heist. He was given a slew of concurrent sentences, and a sentence of 15 years in prison. O.J. must spend at least 6 years in prison before becoming eligible for parole. I can't believe that after 14 years O.J. managed to screw himself this way! The "Dream Team" came together and threw O.J. a mighty big life line, and now he's gonna end up in jail anyway. um um um. And of course Ron Goldman's father and sister were in attendance at the sentencing, even though they didn't have anything to do with this case. Why would they miss an opportunity to see the man go down? O.J.'s lawyer asked for him be granted bail, and he was denied of course. The judge gave this whole speech about how she's not trying to punish Simpson for his past, but weee know better. Be that as it may, O.J. did this to himself. Now his children have to deal with the loss of their mother and their father... So unfair.

Gimmie a Break!!

I was watching 11:00 news tonight, as I normally do, and as I watched story after story, something hit me! The news is becoming increasing difficult to bear. The 1st report that snagged my attention was about a father of four in NJ has been charged with setting his home on fire while the children were asleep in the home. The father set two fires one in the house and another outside of the house after having a heated argument with his wife. One of the kids were taken to the hosptial for smoke inhalation, and the home was so badly burned that they can no longer live in it. Pause for reaction... What the eff is wrong with this sociopath of a father? What kind of psycho do you really have to be in order to try to kill your own children over nothing? This is the kind of ishh that I see on the news that drives me up the wall. The father is currently being held on $200,000 bail, and I gotta tell ya, I think he shoulda been denied bail because the man is a hot burning mess!! Next, I heard about a 14 year old 9th grader who was hit by a bus while crossing the street, another damn foot ball player is in legal trouble (big surprise there) for getting caught with weed, the MTA plans on moving forward with an 8% fair hike and additional taxes on small business. But wait, it gets better, the unemployment rate is on a steady rise and GMC reported that they'll probably go bankrupt by the end of the month if the good ole government doesn't bail their asses out. At this point is it too much to ask for a fricken break from the depressing stuff? this was all reported within the 1st 18 minutes of the news being on! I feel like everytime I watch the news someone is either dead, dying, broke or facing jail time. We're already living in and dealing with this RECESSION, shouldn't that be enough torture? I think it is...

What's The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show Really About?

So I tuned in to the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show and I feel like there's something that I'm just not getting. As I watched I thought to myself: Hmm, these designs are extremely grand and artistic! The detail on the various pieces of lingerie were so intricate and beautiful, there's no doubt about that. Everything from the towering signature angel wings, to the diamond encrusted bras were very easy on the eyes. But I couldn't help but wondering what the point really was. As far as I know, the whole point of a fashion show, is to showcase the upcoming items that people will eventually be able to purchase for themselves. I do not recall seeing anything in that fashion show that will actually appear in a Victoria's Secret store or catalog. I mean the show was a very nice production, but like I said, I feel like there's something that I'm just not getting. On the flip side Urrsher's performance was nice and entertaining! He got up there and channeled both Michael Jackson and James Brown, plus "This Aint Sex" is one of my favorite songs on his album.
Feel free to hit me up and enlighten me as to what your feeling is about the Victoria's Secret Show.

Plaxico Burress Faces 3 Years in Jail!

Mayor Bloomberg announced that he is demanding that NFL player Plaxico Burress be given a mandatory 3 year prison sentence if he is found guilty of criminal possession of a gun. Burress turned himself in to the 17th precinct yesterday morning in connection to a shooting that took place at Latin Quarters on Saturday night. Plaxico Burress got into the club with his gun, which went off and shot him in the thigh while he was in the club with team mate Antonio Pierce. Burress plead not-guilty to the charge yesterday, posted a $100,000 bail and reported to Giants stadium this morning for a team meeting.

All I can say is this whole situation is a MESS! I don't understand why Bloomberg is going so hard on Plax, he's acting like someone else got shot. The poor man ended up shooting his damn self. And what's the deal with him being allowed to get into the club with his gun anyway? Someone at LQ should be fired dammit. And god bless the poor idiot that got rid of the medical records at New York Presbyterian, ' cause now he or she is out of a fricken JOB! What I can't understand is how this thing got to be such a gi-mungous deal? I know Plaxico was trying his best to treat his wound as quietly as possible, next thing you know, the guy has to turn himself into the precinct. Its safe to assume that when the smoke clears his career is probably gonna be history too. Um um um, just sad.

Quote of the week:

"Did you see that comin' when she sat us down here?
Yea but I was hopin' she was expelled or into hard drugs.
Yea, that was my first instinct too, or a DWI, anything but this"

-Juno

I was watching the movie Juno for the umpteenth time, and this part always cracks me up. The above line comes from the part of the movie where Juno has just told her parents that she's pregnant. I found it hilarious that they would've rather hear that she was on drugs or a criminal, then to hear that she was pregnant. Juno is an awesome movie, if ya haven't seen it, you most definitely should!

Bonnie Hunt Has Kim Down Pack!

I found this clip on youtube and I had to share with you guys! Its a clip of Bonnie Hunt and Comedian Niecy Nash imitating Real Housewives' Kim and NeNe. It is Hella Funny!
Enjoy!

Employee Dies @ Walmart!

A 34 year old male employee lost his life early this morning @ a Walmart in Valley Stream, Long Island. According to Fox 5 News the crowd became uncontrollable and stormed into the store in order to begin shopping. Despite police presence the shoppers were still completely out of order. Three others were also injured this morning, including a pregnant woman.
All I can say is Wowww! Is this Black Friday thing really that serious?? No one needs to die or be injured due crazy shoppers mobbing the stores, get it together people. I personally can't stand large crowds and chaos when I'm shopping, so Black Friday is one day that I know I will not shop.

"B" On the Today Show!

Beyonce performed Etta James's "At Last" on the Today Show this morning! She did a fantabulous job! I can't get enough of this chick! You go girl with your #1 Album in the country!
Sidebar: Get a load of "B"s black skin tight body suit! Beyonce's a bad bad chick!

I AM KING. Diddy's New Fragrance!

So in typical Diddy Fashion, P. Diddy has created a mini-movie on his blog in order to promote his latest fragrance: I Am King. The mini-movie plays like something straight out of a James Bond action flick! Hmmm, can this be because of Diddy's latest campaign to be the new James Bond? P.Diddy stated on his blog that he feels that he is the best man for the job. He then went on to say that since we finally have a black president, it's time for a black Bond. I dunno about all dat, Diddy might need to stick to what he knows: MUSIC! With that being said, the blog was very entertaining, feel free to check it out below! Enjoy!

Lets Get Ready To Rumbleeee!

Hmm, where do I begin? I couldn't wait for tonight to come so that I could get my Tuesday fix of Atlanta's favorite housewives. I set my DVR to record (in case I felt like a fiend later on and wanted watch it a couple more times, LOL), and I proceeded to indulge. So when the show began everyone was civil and courteous, with an undertone of snotty in the mix. That lasted for about 2 whole minutes. Once the viewers' questions started coming then the ishhh hit the fan!

Kim decided to reveal that big poppa is "legally married" but going through a divorce, and that they're in an on again, off again relationship! NeNe damn near jumped into Kim's lap and pounced her out! while talking about things Kim said about her during the show. NeNe also advised Kim that she should "close her legs to married men" because Mr. Nager doesn't plan on leaving his wife!! Kim addressed the questions that viewers asked about her wig. She broke down and confused us all while explaining that she may or may not have had cancer in the past. Her hair fell out for whatever reason, and apparently that's the reason that she wears that hideous wig. Oh, and my favorite part of all; who is Kim fooling claiming that she's 30??! She is apparently very serious about her age. That's her story and she's sticking to it! If Kim is 30 then I'm 12 dammit! And did she mention something about there being another season with these 5 women in Atlanta?? Hmm...

A viewer sent an email rippin' into Deshawn about how much money she spends on her staff each year. I thought she stayed true to the personality that we've come to know all season. Her words were at a minimum, and she was polite at the same time. Or maybe it's just that her brain was occupied with thoughts of new ways to spend money. Who knows. One thing is true though, Deshawn stayed out of the drama during the show, and on the after show.

When it came down to Sheree they discussed the fact that she acts like everyone should wanna be her. She claimed that she doesn't feel or act that way (big surprise there). A viewer went in on Sheree about the fact that she doesn't sketch or sow her own designs. She was also called a gold digger to her surprise! The way that woman repeatedly talked about wanting her seven figure divorce settlement, its no wonder why we would get the impression that she's an opportunistic she devil! What other conclusion would we possibly come to?

Lisa called Kim out for talking about everyone behind their backs. after Kim revealed that Lisa told her about NeNe's song in the limo. Lisa stated that she told Sheree, but that she never had that discussion with Kim. She then threatened to flip her over the couch for lying, LOL. I found that part to be hilarious. That seemed so out of character for Lisa.

Side Bar: what the hell was up with Dwight's (NeNe's overly gay/Divo sidekick) fricken hair??! Holy crap, what was he thinking when he came on TV looking like that? He came out looking like the Eddie Murphy character in Vampire In Brooklyn! And he had some balls going out there and putting his hands all in poor Kim's hair the way he did!

Over all I was definitely entertained by the fierce fivesome, as usual, but I have to admit that I felt bad for Kim. She got picked on pretty badly. Between the viewers with their emails and NeNe and Lisa, poor Kim didn't stand a chance. In a way she caused it on herself, because she said a few reckless things during the season, but lets face it Kimmy is no real match for NeNe or Lisa. I'm gonna be waiting to see if these women get another season on Bravo. It would be the best thing the network could do for its ratings because this season in Atlanta was the most entertaining and drama filled by far!! I'm so darn sad that the season is over already! I was pondering what I'm gonna do on Tuesday nights for the next couple months, and then it hit me! I'm gonna have to just tune into the new season of the Bad Girls Club!!! There's like two black girls this season (again), and as we clearly see and know, where ever us people of color go, some good drama is sure to follow! ;-)

Kanye's New Video

This is Kanyeezy's new video for his single Heartless off of his new album 808s and Heartbreak. I thought it was very creative and innovative of Kanye to do a video like this! Yeezy is soo full of talent, that's why no matter what shinanigans he pulls, I always forgive him! LMAO! Enjoy!

Neesh's take on the AMA's

J.T. And Annie Lenox

Queen Latifah And Keys performing!

Those godforsaken PussyCat Dolls

Kanyeezy wore this darn outfit the whole night!
Yeezy whassup with that?

Cutie pie Chris Breezy!

Rhi Rhi looking so hawt!
Killer hair, Killer clothes! I love her!

Not sure about this curtain/drape thing!
But she redeemed herself!

My girl "B" during her awesome performance!

If Ya like it then ya shoulda put a ring on it!!

The American Music Awards came on last night. It was a pretty decent show as far as award shows go. The talented Alicia Keys snagged two awards, one of them was for Best Soul/R&B female. Kanyeezy also snagged two of the nights awards. One was for Best Male Hip Hop/Rap Album. When he went up to accept his second award, he stated that he would like to give his award to Lil Wayne (who was also nominated in the category). Yeezy went on to say that Wayne deserved the honor of best rap album more than he did for this year. All I would like to ask Kanye is, why can't you make up your mind?? When ya don't win you wanna wild out, and when ya do win, then you wanna give your award away?? Make up your mind dude! Anywho, Rihanna won two awards as well. I love Rhi Rhi, but I wasn't sure how to feel about her dress. It sort of looked liked a cross between curtains and drapes or something. However, she totally redeemed herself during her performance of Rehab. Rhi Rhi came out with her killer hair and her killer leather outfit and gave a pretty nice performance! And speaking of Rhi Rhi, her boo Chris Breezy picked up three awards and one of them was a biggie for artist of the year! There was some mediocre performances by Christina Aguilera and The Pussycat Dolls. Those damn pussycats came out and turned the show up a notch from PG to PG-13 with their patent leather, stripper/dominatrix outfits! I fricken forgot what show I was watchn for a minute. Natasha Bedingfield performed a nice little medley of her songs Soulmate, Unwritten and Pocket Full of Sunshine. I just love that girl's voice! The one and only Beyonce gave a great performance of Single Ladies and she had everyone on their feet dancing (no surprise there)! Kanye performed his new single Heartless with all the emotion and passion that we all look forward to from a Kanye performance. I thought he did a good job, But I was a little disturbed that he wore the same outfit allll night. Legendary singer and activist Annie Lenox was honored with the Merit Award and she put on a soulful performance as well. Alicia Keys closed the night with her performance of Superwoman along with my girl Queen Latifah and world renown opera singer Kathleen Battle. Oh, I almost forgot, America's favorite celibate tripplets The Jonas Brothers also won an award. I must say that I enjoyed the show overall. I thought it was well put together and it went off without a hitch!

New Jamie Foxx Flick

Jamie foxx has just wrapped up production on his latest movie entitled: The Soloist. The emotional and heart wrenching movie is based on the true story of LA Times reporter Steve Lopez (played by Robert Downey, Jr.) and his encounter with an ex Julliard student and musical genius turned homeless schizophrenic Nathaniel Ayers (played by Jamie Foxx). In Steve Lopez's quest to help Nathaniel find his way back to the life he once had, a beautiful friendship blossoms and changes both lives. There's a lot of buzz around this flick people, and it sounds like it'll be an award winning performance by both Foxx and Downey, Jr. The Soloist is scheduled to be out in theaters on March 13, 2009.

Shame on you Lindsay Lohan!

So I was up late the other night and I decided to tune into Chelsea Lately for some late night entertainment. Chelsea's always good for a laugh. At the beginning of the show she showed a clip of an interview that Linday Lohan did with Access Hollywood's Maria Menounos. Maria asked La Lo how she felt about Barack being elected president seeing as how she claimed to be such a big supporter. Lindsay then replied that she is very happy and excited because "he is the first colored president". What???????? I was fricken flabbergasted when I saw that clip. "Colored"?? Did Lindsay Lohan not get the memo that that word is no longer in use? Who the eff still calls African Americans "Colored"? Better yet what kind of Obama supporter would call him a "Colored" man? Ughhh! The level of retardation and ignorance that still exhists is mind boggling to me.

Was Ashley Dupre Serious?

So I tuned in to 20/20 last night to see the interview with former call girl/escort Ashley Dupre, and I must say that I found myself very annoyed at that chick. Can someone tell me why she agreed to do the interview with Diane Sawyer if she was gonna refuse to answer the juicy and important questions?? When Diane asked Dupre the killer questions about what type of "client" the ex governor was, she responded, "I have been legally advised not to discuss that". Dupre then proceeded to give that same response several other times through out the interview. Instead Ashley wanted to discuss her daddy issues, and the fact that she felt abandoned by her father when her parents got divorced. Why on earth would we give a flying crap about that stuff? The only things we care about are facts like: how much money she got from the governor, how often she met with him, and whether he was her"difficult"client. That girl came on the show and tried to talk about being in love with a married man, and getting betrayed and left with lease of a couple thousand $. Homegirl got it twisted into thinking we were interested in those minute details. Anywho I give Diane and "E" for effort because she was very respectful to Ashley Dupre and she tried her best to get the goods for us. But it seemed like a waste of time.

Brandy Comes Clean

In the December issue of US Weekly singer Brandy explains exactly why she lied about her 2002 marriage to her daughter's father (Robert Smith). She admits that the marriage never actually occurred and that she was afraid of how her fans would view her had we known that she was having a child out of wedlock. So instead of just being real and embracing he situation, she created this facade for the fans to eat up. first of all I must say that I am a big Brandy fan. I've loved the girl since "I wanna be down", and through her various albums and her hit TV show Moesha, I sort of feel like I grew up on Brandy. With that being said, Brandy had to have thought that her fans were complete morons to not have seen through her fake marriage during her reality show on MTV, Brandy: A Special Delivery. Robert didn't seem very into her or the pregnancy, he appeared to be merely going with the flow. Lord knows she was trying her best to put on a happy face, but Robby boy didn't do a very good job of pretending. Plus, what kind of idiot publicist must B Rocka have that would allow her to follow through with something like that?? Her publicist should have made her understand that this is not the 1920s, and that no true, die hard fan is gonna lose love and respect for you just because you're not married to the father of your child. People in long term committed relationships get respect too right? Brandy also discusses the horrific car accident (in 2006) that she caused, leaving a woman dead. Through out all of the trials and tribulations Brandy still managed to record a new album called: Human due out on December 9th. She stated that, "The purpose of my life is music. it's my responsibility to give the fans something they've been waiting for, something they deserve." I guess we'll have to wait to see if Brandy can revive her career with this album.

Quote of the week:

"Life is hard, things happen...Sometimes ya gotta stop, and put it all behind you!!"
-Professor Groneman

This is a very memorable and funny line that a professor of mine said in college. She directed this comment to a young lady in my class that was having a hard time letting go of things in her personal life. The young lady was visibly upset while telling her story to the class, and I guess my professor just didn't have the patience or tolerance to deal with it. She stopped her in mid sentence and explained to her that things are gonna happen in life that upset you, but you can't dwell on them, you have to give it the time it requires and move on with your life. I was in my seat shocked that Professor Groneman was soo blunt, but I took what she said that day with me, and I've remembered it and applied it ever since!

Mr. And Mrs. Smith In Essence!

Be sure to pick up the December issue of Essence magazine. There are two different covers out, on one the beautiful Jada Pinkett Smith is the cover girl, and on the other the Mr. and Mrs. grace the cover together. There's an awesome interview inside that the couple did. Jada and Will are very open and candid as usual, and they both give a lot of insight into how they've kept their marriage going all this time! The article was very well written, and both Will and Jada had some very poignant things to say. In addition to the article there are some stunning pics of the power couple inside. The December issue of Essence also wraps up and reflects on this year in black entertainment so it's a really good read over all! Pick it up if ya get a chance, It's on news stands now.

Hilary Clinton To Be Named Secretary of State!

So after much speculation, ABC News confirmed that Hill will be named Secretary of State in the Obama administration! There's been rumors and talks of Hilary being chosen for the position ever since Barack won the nomination several weeks ago. Hilary is scheduled to be officially nominated after the Thanksgiving holiday. Barack Obama has stated that he would like to construct his administration in the same way the President Lincoln did. Apparently when Lincoln was elected he chose various people that ran against him to be members of his cabinet. Well Barack, you're off to a great start! I'm sure Hilary will do a great job!

Ex Govenor's Call Girl On 20/20

The infamous Call girl Ashley Dupre, a.k.a "Kristen" will be seen on ABC's 20/20 with Diane Sawyer tomorrow night. Ashley has decided that it's time to break her silence and tell her side of the story regarding the sex scandal that forced former Governor of New York Eliot Spitzer to leave office. Sources report that Dupre doesn't go into great detail about her relations with the ex Governor. She mainly explains how she ended up running away from home (New Jersey) and becoming a high priced prostitute. I can't wait to see exactly what this chick is talkin' about tomorrow night...

Another Fricken Fair Hike??

The MTA will be holding a meeting tomorrow to discuss their plans to raise subway and bus fairs by 23% and cut at least 2 subway train lines. The MTA reportedly also plans to raise the express bus fairs by a whopping 50%! If the 23% raise goes into affect that will hike the current $2 fair up to $3 one way! The meeting is scheduled to take place at 9:00 AM tomorrow! This is utterly ridiculous dammit! They wanna raise our fairs while Eyewitness news is catching MTA workers lolly gaggin' and foolin' around while they're on the clock?! What the EFF?! I am outraged!

Holla if you hear me......

The Beyonce Experience...

"B"s album I AM...SASHA FIERCE hit the shelves yesterday!! I copped the album of course and gave it a couple good listens. Its a double album with 6 songs on the 1st CD and 5 songs on the 2nd one. While I do love the album as a whole I have to say, I think "B" should've put more songs on each CD just to add more meat to the project. I finished listening to both CDs and I was left feeling a little incomplete. With that being said Beyonce is definitely at her peak vocally. I've been following this diva since "No, No, No", and her voice has never sounded better on any album. She kills it with ballads like "Halo" and spills raw emotions in "Broken -Hearted Girl". Then she kicks it up a thousand notches with songs like "Diva" and "Single Ladies". I love this chick, her talent and creativity is endless! How would I rate this album? Well, Im struggling between a B+ and an A-. I'll reveal my final grade after a couple more spins!

Real House Wives Season Finale

On the season finale of The Real House wives... Deshawn has to face the harsh reality that her husband (NBA player Eric Snow) may have to retire from the Cleveland Cavaliers! Deshawn talks with Lisa about the various ways that she will have to down size her frivolous life style. At the same time Lisa is battling with the fact that her husband (Ed Hartwell) has been picked up to play for the Oakland Raiders. This means that he will have to spend half his time all the way on the west coast, away from Lisa and their son. And just when I was starting to feel a little board with all that NBA and NFL talk, the show redeems itself and cuts to Dallas Austin FINALLY being honest with Kim and flat out letting her know that her voice is gonna need some major work in order to make an album. Dallas explains to Kim that she needs to kick her pack a day smoking habit and she looked like she couldn't even fathom the thought, lol. Sheree continued to refine her clothing line and met with Mychael Knight (project runway designer) in order to consult on how to make her line bigger and better. Knight offered Sheree some real honest advice about the business of designing clothes. I think he set her on the right track. While all of this is goin' on NeNe is home writin' a letter to the man who she thought was her father all her life (It was revealed through a paternity test on the 11/11 episode that Curtis was NOT her father, the whole thing felf very Maury to me, lol). Anywh0, the show wrapped up with all the women and their husbands having a dinner party to send each other off. Words were exchanged between Sheree, NeNe and Kim (inevitably), and NeNe's husband gave a peaceful and conscious speech about making up and moving on. By the end of the episode we learned that Sheree is still hoping for her 7 figure divorce, and she will be launching her clothing line in the fall of '09. Lisa's husband Ed, was released from his contract with Oakland, Deshawn is continuing to work on expanding her foundation, NeNe hasn't made any moves towards identifying her real daddy and Kim still hasn't stopped smoking. I thought the finale was mediocre and uneventful in comparison to the rest of the season, but brace yourselves people 'cause as I said in a previous post the plot thickens for the reunion episode. From what I heard and saw on the promos the ishh really hits the fan!! I will definitely stay tuned for the big bang!
Tune in to Bravo next Tuesday, November 25th @ 9pm!

No More Chuck E. Cheese Pleeeease!

As you all already know, I am a social worker. So every Monday I supervise a Parent/Child visit for two hours. I accompany a man and woman with their son into the community and observe their interaction, simple enough right? NOT!! EVERY STINKIN' MONDAY these parents decide to go to Chuck E. Cheese with their son, and I get the luxury of taggin' along. Now the first couple of times I really didn't mind, however, at this point I'm ready to blow a fricken fuse! I have had to go to Chuck E. Cheese more than any adult should ever have to. The one good thing is that because it's early in the day, and it's a weekday, the place is never jam packed with screamin' kids. However, I have made the final and irrevocable decision to never allow my kids to go to Chuck E.Cheese. I am traumatized to the point of no return. So now it's Sunday night and I'm dreading what I know I have in store for me tomorrow. Ughh!
Feel free to leave me your comments and suggestions. I need to convince these parents that there is life beyond that big friendly rat!

Quote Of The Week:

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, It does not boast, it is not proud".

- 1st Corinthians, Verse 4

I try to remember this and put it into practice any time I feel like strangling my boyfriend or one of my family members! It sure is a lot to live by, but I try.

More Drama With The Real House Wives!

Imagine my shock when I found out that Real Housewives of Atlanta's Lisa and Kim had it out during the taping of the reunion show!! For those of you who actually watch the show, Lisa Hartwell has been the one woman on the show who hasn't been apart of any of the drama. Through out the season she has been the more neutral party, but word on the street is that Lisa went ape shit on Kim after being fed up of her talking shit during the taping. The following is an excerpt from Lisa's interview with Essence.com:

"I’ve been extremely diplomatic and there are horrible things I could have said but I have chosen not to and still do...When you come after my integrity or my family, then you’re going to see a different person."

Lisa says viewers will probably be caught off guard by what they see during the show which will be airing on November 25th

"People will be surprised because I was surprised and somewhat embarrassed myself," she says. "But I’m human and you have to let people know that they can’t just say whatever they want to you."

"I was naïve coming in and I’ve learned some people just have ill intentions," she says, "so I will deal with each individual accordingly. But people need to know that yes, I’m a businesswoman but I’m also a sparring woman!

Lisa allegedly slaps Kim in her face, and Kim is said to be speaking with a lawyer about the ordeal. Holy shirts and ties!! I have to say I was genuinely shocked when I heard about this! It doesn't even sound like Lisa's style to get violent, but like she said, the viewers are probably gonna be caught off guard by what we see. I for one cannot wait to see that reunion special!
Once again, it airs on Bravo on November 25th @ 9pm!

Kanye Arrested Again!

According to E!News, Kanyeezy was arrested in Newcastle, England early Friday morning for assaulting a photographer. Kanye allegedly pushed the photographer's camera into his face just before exiting a night club. Kanye was later picked up at his hotel room, and arrested on assault charges! After being questioned by the police, Kanyeezy was released (lol, that rhymes). Some of you might remember the photog fiasco that occurred with Kanye and his assistant at LAX airport a couple months ago. Paparazzos beware!! I love yeezy, I mean, seriously, he is extremely talented, but I'm in fear that this boy might be losin' his screws, this erratic behavior is totally counterproductive for him...

Beyonce on Oprah

So I tuned in to my girl Oprah today to see my other girl Beyonce because I knew that if anyone could get "B" to talk about her marriage to Jay-Z, it would be Oprah. And lord knows Oprah asked the killer questions about the location of the marriage, and how they pulled off keeping it quiet, but "B" would not budge. She spoke about how happy and excited she is to be a wife, but that was all we were gettin', lol. I have to say that Beyonce was soo classy and polite about the whole thing, she let it be known how important it is for her private life to be kept sacred, however, for those that might have had any doubt left, it is confirmed that she is thee Mrs. Carter. Next Oprah asked "B" if the pregnancy rumors are true, she put that to rest by stating that while she does want children some day, she is not ready at the moment. After getting through the painful questions, they then discussed "B"s up coming album: I am... Sasha Fierce, due out Next Tuesday, November 18th. The album is supposed to be a combination of Beyonce's more intimate and vulnerable side with her more racey and sexy alter ego (Sasha). The two also discussed the movie Cadillac Records in which Beyonce plays legendary blues singer Etta James. The flick will be in theaters on December 5th, and apparently "B" is getting rave reviews for her performance! The show was closed with Beyonce giving a nice performance of her single "If I were a boy". I love that darn Beyonce, I'm totally a groupie for her! Lol

Keyshia Is Back!

On Tuesday night Keyshia Cole's hit reality show: The Way It Is premiered on BET for a 3rd season. Keyshia is in the midst of recording her 3rd album and still tryin' her darnest to unite her foster family and her birth family. Keyshia's sister Neffe was able to get a nice home for her and her children (with Keyshia's assistance), and Frankie is still bringing drama everywhere she goes. I have to say I find this show extremely entertaining! Keyshia's biological mother Frankie is a hott burnin' mess! The season premiered with her lashing out at everyone around her, as usual. By the end of the the show Frankie had cursed out her daughter Neffe, Keyshia and Yvonne (Keyshia's foster/adopted mother). In Frankie's twisted world she's the victim, never mind her 6 kids that were spread out all over the place, and left up to the mercy of the world. As a social worker I have to shake my head at mothers like her. Anywho, I'm a big fan of Keyshia, and god bless her for being brave enough to expose her family to the world (that is not easy). The Way It Is is a good show, and more importantly it offers a well needed dose of reality that's been lacking from a lot of these "reality" tv shows.

Catch the show on Tuesdays @ 10pm on BET!

A Bit Disappointed

So I was watchin' the video for Jazmine Sullivan's new single I Bust Your Windows, and I have to say that I was a bit disappointed. I love that song, and lord knows I can relate to wantin' to make a nucca feel sorry for doing the heel and toe on my damn heart! Fricken heartless scumbags! Let me breathe, I'm getting all kinds of flashbacks, LOL. Anywho, I was expectin' to see her puttin' in work on some one's Benz or something like that! Instead she's in the house pouring out wine and champelly, and breaking glasses. I was sitting there thinking What The Eff??! Where's that crow bar that I envisioned? Where's the anger, the disgust, the outrage?? The song is great, and Jazmine's voice is even better, therefore the video should have made those colorful lyrics come to life. She fell very short of that. Jazmine Sullivan's next single is supposedly gonna be her song Lions and Tigers and Bears, another great song that I am definitely looking forward to seeing a video for! Hopefully her next video does the song justice...

NeNe and Kim go splitsville!

So I'm writing about Tuesday's (11/4) episode of The Real Housewives a little late because I couldn't take my eyes off of the election coverage long enough to watch the fricken show. I recorded it on my good ole DVR and decided that I would catch up on the weekend. So on the newest episode, we catch up with Kim and her aspiring music career. Music producer Dallas Austin sent Kim to get some vocal lessons from a friend of his. The lesson went horribly ( needless to say). The vocal coach basically told Kim that she had no talent, and Kim completely disagreed, LMAO. I like Kim, and she seems really cool, but she's gonna need a serious prayer to assist her with her music career. So while Kim is attempting to get her career on, cut to NeNe(her Bffer) mocking her to the other girls, and making fun of her lack of talent. NeNe went in on Kim and totally put her on blast in front of everyone! Could NeNe's hate be stemming from the fact that all of a sudden Kim and Sheree(NeNe's arch nemesis) are starting to hang out a lot more?? And let me add that Sheree knows she aint right, sittin' on the sideline telling Kim that she has a great voice. Kim needs a real friend that can let her know that she needs muchos work to get where she wants to be. So anywho, of course word gets back to Kim about NeNe making fun of her behind her back, and the rest of the episode plays out like a bunch of teens in school going from clique to clique. Kim vows never to speak to NeNe again and goes as far as to text her and give her a piece of her mind! Now for anyone who's been following this show from the beginning, you know that NeNe and Kim were like ebony and ivory, so them not talking anymore is crazy! I have to admit that this episode was entertaining, but I couldn't help but wondering when the caddiness and bitchiness ends? I've always thought that it was something that you grow and mature out of, but I guess that may not be the case. I pray that when I'm in my 30s livin' comfortably with my husband kids, that I'm not dealin' with foolishness like that.... On next week's episode, we finally find out the verdict on NeNe's paternity dilemma and we see what happens with Sheree's clothing line! I can't wait.
Tuesdays @ 10 pm on Bravo.

New Will Smith Flick!

When I heard that cutie pa-tootie Will Smith was gonna be on Oprah on Thursday November 6th, I couldn't wait to tune in. I recorded the show on my DVR and braced my self to see what hilarious thing Will would say or do. He did indeed say some funny and poignant things, but it was the news of his new movie that really caught my attention. So In Will's new flick 7 pounds he plays a widower who's given up on life, but before he ends it all, he sets out to change the lives of 7 strangers. He co-stars in the movie with actress Rosario Dawson. The movie is surrounded by a lot of mystery and suspense! The trailer that Oprah narrated made me wish I was in the audience getting a darn sneak peek!! Of course Oprah and the audience already saw the movie, and they gave it rave reviews! The movie opens up in theaters on December 19th. Will doesn't usually disappoint, so I for one will be seeing this one!

Ri- Ri's New Video!

Let me start by saying that I Adore Rihanna! I respect and admire her so much for the way she tweeked her style and came into her own kick ass skin! She's so naturally beautiful, and she definitely has the talent and drive that will give her longevity in the music industry! Her last video Disturbia was great, and now she has just finished shooting the video for her single Rehab (my favorite song on the album) and Justin Timberlake (who also co-wrote the song) is featured in the video. I can't wait for the fricken premiere!!

Yes We Can!

So we actually have a BLACK president! I have to admit that I never thought that I would see this day. I feel soo humbled, fortunate and proud to be apart of this day in history. I'm gonna keep this blog short and to the point, because it seems that no amount of words or adjectives can do this moment justice. So in the words of Obama and so many others: YES WE CAN!!

Obama's Grandmother Loses Her Battle!

It is with great sadness that I write about the passing of Barack Obama's grandmother Madelyn Dunham. She lost her battle with cancer this morning. Channel 7 news reports that she died peacefully at her home in Hawaii. Unfortunately she didn't make it to see what a historic impact her grandson could have had on our country. I personally just want to take this time to acknowledge Madelyn Dunham for giving us such a wonderful, influential and courageous man! Barack Obama always credits her for raising him with the stability, strength and love that he was unable to receive from his parents (due to the fact that his father was absent and his mother traveled a lot). Our prayers are with Barack today and tomorrow as he prepares to push forward without his grandmother.
